During my "other life" (between college and graduate school) I earned a post-graduate certificate in scientific illustration from the University of California at Santa Cruz Science Communication Program. From 1999 - 2003 I worked as a scientific illustrator and graphic designer. I illustrated for natural history museums, interpretive nature exhibits, scientific publications, science magazines, educational childrens' software and zoos.

Clients included the Nature Conservancy, The California Academy of Sciences, McGraw-Hill Children's Educational Publishing, Hewlett Packard and Redmond Jones and Associates.
